Two staff members in serious condition after double stabbing at The Bracton Centre in Dartford Two people have been stabbed at The Bracton Centre

Two staff members are in hospital and a man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing at a mental health centre in Dartford.

The male victims are said to be in a serious but stable condition in a London hospital after suffering injuries "consistent with stab wounds", police said.

Officers from Kent Police were called to reports of a disturbance at the Bracton Centre just before 12pm on 17/07/2016

When police arrived at the Bracton Centre, a small fire was also discovered.

Three fire engines attended and the blaze was extinguished within half an hour.

A 30-year-old man, who was receiving treatment at the centre, was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.

At around 12.30pm residents spotted two air ambulances taking off from nearby Bexley Park.

The centre in Bracton Lane, which is run by Oxleas NHS Trust, offers a range of specialist mental health services.

A spokeswoman for Kent Police said the incident was contained within the centre, and officers are not looking for anyone else involved.
